Yesterday we began our intensive czech classes which we'll be taking 4 hours a day for the rest of the week. They split the film students into two groups, but luckily everyone I know is in my group. I learned today that we have a midterm on Friday, so I guess school has really begun this time. We blew right through basic conversation and are already on verb conjugations, so I haven't even really had a moment to breath. Our teacher is pretty awesome though, so it's really not all that bad. Plus, when we get out of class, we have the rest of the day to ourselves, which we always spend wandering and finding new and awesome things.
After class today we were lead on an amazing tour through the very coolest parts of Prague. It began in the main square of Praha 1 and winded through the bustling streets and tunnels of the touristy area, then it eased into the old city, which I found to be amazing. Buildings date back centuries, and even the "new" constructs are from the 1300's. That's why it's so hard to distinguish between the old and new city--they're both way older than the USA, the only country I've ever known! I took a lot of pictures of people in my group today so hopefully you'll finally get to see some familiar faces this time around. There are so many street performers, but I've noticed they're really shitty at staying still. They're more into waiting for unsuspecting girls to come near and then they grab them. I find it hilarious, but the girls in my group were less enthused. I just love those little details that make Prague unique; I'm picking up on them slowly but surely.
On another note, my Czech roomate Yakub just walked in as I'm typing this post and invited me to a party with his classmates at an abandoned meat factory tonight. I have literally no idea what to expect, but I know I have to go. Wish me luck everyone, things may get interesting tonight...
